Koei Tecmo has shared a new trailer for Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess.
Featured above, the new trailer showcases the various characters in the game, including the new princess, Velguirie. As you can expect, she’s kind of a nightmare and has a thing for grinding her stilettos into her enemies.
You can find the press release for the main cast of characters below, via Koei Tecmo:
Laegrinna and Velguirie
Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess revolves around the stories of two ‘daughters’ of the Devil, a creature imprisoned thousands of years ago in a magically sealed cage. The first, Laegrinna, is aided by three Daemons in a quest to find and kill the descendants of the twelve Saints that bound her father. She uses trickery to lure them into traps and defeat them in Sadistic, Elaborate or Humiliating ways.
The second, Velguirie, is an entirely new, wickedly sadistic, and infernally mischievous addition to the series and her story is shrouded in mystery. Velguirie is awakened by an automaton, called Ephemera, after a long slumber that has caused her to lose her powers. To regain them, and to follow the wishes of the Devil in the process, she must lure humans into the demi-plane between the dreamlands and the waking world and use traps to ensnare their souls. Velguirie is the only character in the Deception series to also have an active power, as she can use kicks and somersaults to drive her opponents into traps, or away from her.
Previous Deception Heroines Return
In addition to Velguirie and Laegrinna, players can unlock characters from the previous Deception titles. After these princesses are defeated in-game, they become available as playable characters in the Mission mode:
- Millenia (Kagero: Deception II), the Clockwork Princess, has been brainwashed since she was a child and made to hunt humans. As a result, Millenia never has any remorse or emotion over her actions. She has more stamina than the other characters and the power to use traps in rapid succession- after she powers them up.
- Alicia (Trapt), the Branded Princess, was branded as a sacrifice for the Devil after being framed for killing her father. The brand on her arm allows her to automatically recover her stamina and to push enemies. She can also choose defensive abilities such as Recovery and Shock Wave.
- Reina (Deception III: Dark Delusion), the Tragic Princess, was taken as a slave after her family was murdered on her 17th birthday. She is very agile, though not too strong, and has the unique ability to slow time and dodge enemy attacks.
Traps
Jack-o’-lanterns falling from the sky, golden toilets that explode, banana peels, defibrillators, swaying pandas, human cannons and iron maidens are only a few of the more than 180 traps that players can choose from to create the funniest, darkest, or most elaborate combos to defeat their adversaries in delightfully imaginative settings that include medieval castles, hospitals, playgrounds, and amusement parks.
Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess is launching across PlayStation 4 via retail and PlayStation 3 and PS Vita via PlayStation Network on July 14th in North America and on July 17th in Europe.
