inXile Entertainment released a new developer diary today focusing on the music in their upcoming RPG, The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep.
As you’d expect from an RPG with the word “Bard” in its title, music has played a huge role in the series since the beginning.
In the latest trailer, which you can find above, InXile discusses how they brought on Scottish musician and composer Ged Grimes and a variety of other folk singers to craft the game’s massive Gaelic soundtrack. The final game will feature over 100 pieces of music created by InXile’s team of Scottish musicians.

Over one hundred years later, the terrible events of Skara Brae’s violent destruction are nearly forgotten. In dark ruins below, an evil has waited patiently. Until now. The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep is set to release on September 18th for Windows PC via Steam and GOG. It’s also coming to PS4 and Xbox One sometime later.
