We’ve learned former The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 staff launched new studio Rebel Wolves, with the goal to “revolutionize the RPG genre.”

The new studio Rebel Wolves is being helmed by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz (The Witcher 3 Director, Head of Production/Secondary Game Director – Cyberpunk 2077) and other core staff that worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077.

“For all of us here at Rebel Wolves, video games were always something we felt destined to do—something ingrained in our DNA,” Konrad Tomaszkiewicz said. “Personally, I couldn’t be happier to have banded together with friends who share this passion. We’re developing a video game we’d like to play in a way that games should be made.”

He added, “We want to evolve the cRPG genre by creating unforgettable stories and stirring deep emotions, all while working as a tightly knit team united by a shared goal and ambition. Collectively, we envision Rebel Wolves as a place where experienced game developers can reignite their passion, where they can focus on their craft and pour their love into an amazing, ambitious title. We want to stay small and agile—a place where people know and care for each other.”

Their first game is the “first of a planned saga,” which they’re describing as a “AAA dark fantasy” game “built inside the Unreal 5 engine.” Here’s some artwork for the new project:

Here’s the other core founding staff:

  • Design Director Daniel Sadowski (Witcher 1, Nitreal Games, Growing Up)
  • Narrative Director and Main Writer Jakub Szamałek (Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Thronebreaker)
  • Animation Director Tamara Zawada (Witcher 3, Shadow Warrior 2, Capcom Vancouver)
  • Art Director Bartłomiej Gaweł (Witcher 1-3)
  • CFO Michał Boryka
  • Studio Head Robert Murzynowski

Here’s the word from Rebel Wolves:

We want to do two things. Sounds modest? Well, keep reading.

One is to revolutionize the RPG genre. We love these games, we’ve been playing and making them for decades – and now we want to take them a step further. Our titles will be quality driven and innovative. We don’t want to create another game, we want to create the game. We’re experts in our respective fields, confident in our abilities, and wildly passionate about what we do.

Second – is to create a studio where developers can thrive, united by a common goal and a sense of camaraderie. Our priority is the team, and the team’s priority is to create the best RPG games the world has seen.

Ambitious? Watch us.
