We’re going to be getting a look at what’s next for the Street Fighter series later this year.
Capcom is preparing a “new Street Fighter announcement” for both November and December of this year, news confirmed by series producer Yoshinori Ono at EVO 2019.
Here’s the statement from Ono:
Dear EVO, Joey, and Street Fighter fans around the world. We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to a big announcement this year. We wanted to put together something else for you guys, but it didn’t quite work out. Trust me, we feel your disappointment.
There is nothing in Blanka’s pocket today. But look forward to a new Street Fighter V announcement in November and December. We will make sure Blanka has a gift in his pocket at this year’s Capcom Cup at the Nobel in Los Angeles. Looking forward to seeing you all there. You are all invited. Until then, please enjoy the new characters, the EVO finals, and the rest of the Capcom Pro Tour season. Thank you very much.
As the wording from Ono is nebulous at best, it remains to be seen if this means they’ll announce the next Street Fighter game, or just more content for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.
In recent news, the latest post-launch characters for the game – E. Honda, Lucia, and Poison – were revealed, and are launching today, August 4th.
