New Shadowrun Game’s Setting Revealed to be Hong Kong

Not too long ago, Harebrained Schemes posted a piece of concept art that teased their next Shadowrun title. While it was fairly obvious the image heavily hinted towards the next game having an Asian setting, it was confirmed today with the team’s latest update.

With the confirmation that the new game will take place in Hong Kong, that opens up the possibility of dealing with cybered-up Yakuza/Triad punks and perhaps a more varied set of sword weapons as well.

The new game’s Kickstarter is expected to begin sometime next month.

I’m playing through Dragonfall right now and I’m loving it. I have to admit I was skeptical, since I found Dead Man’s Switch too boring to even finish, but as long as the Hong Kong setting is as good as Dragonfall I’ll buy the next game.

Hopefully there’s a splatbook or two they can throw in, though. One problem I had with the Infinity Engine DnD games is that I ended up just building the same character over and over again since I knew that build would work in just about any situation, and I hope I don’t come to a similar problem with the Shadowrun games.
