Though there are quite a few RPGmaker games on Steam, 2014’s Skyborn is considered to be one of the better ones. Containing original artwork that helped flesh out the game’s Steampunk-themed world, it received quite a bit of praise. Following up on that success, Dancing Dragon Games has announced that their next RPG, Echoes of Aetheria, is now available to purchase either through Steam or by way of their online store front.
Dancing Dragon Games is also known for the Deadly Sin series of RPGs, which, just like Echoes of Aetheria, gained notoriety for creating an unusually deep combat system for something a simple as an RPGmaker game. With a grid-based battle setup similar to what was used in Enchanted Arms, it stands out a bit from the usual indie RPG fare.
A blurb from the Steam page helps explains the story:
- Echoes of Aetheria has a humble, perhaps even classic, beginning. A wedding interrupted, a bride kidnapped; our heroes give chase. Though their motives are different, they soon find themselves thrown together as their simple quest to recover the bride spirals into an epic saga of war, love, and betrayal.
- Treason, defection, rebellion, and even the creation of a new nation are all parts in which you’ll have a role to play. As you progress further, the scope of the story will grow with your heroes. By the end, you’ll have to weigh your decisions and their consequences against the fate of entire nations.
