Not much is known about this yet, but from looking over the Patent file, it seems to be a new device with a heavy focus on NFC wireless connection.  The forum thread about this over at NeoGAF seems to suggest that this is pointing towards a pokemon focused gaming device all it’s own, totally separate from the 3DS.

The device is being referred to as an “Information Processing Apparatus, Information Processing System, Information Processing Method and Recording Medium” and was developed by AMBRELLA along with Nintendo and the Pokemon Company.

What this means we do not know yet.  Could it have to do with the amiibo figures?  Perhaps a bold new pokemon game?  We will keep you posted as more information comes out.
