Warner Bros. have confirmed the release date for the new Mortal Kombat movie, nearly 24 years after the first.
The film will launch March 5th, 2021. Filming starts this year, and will be filmed in Australia. South Australia’s Premier Steven Marshall praised the film as one of the largest films produced in Adelaide, South Australia. It is predicted to bring in around 580 jobs,1,500 extras and $48.5 million USD into the Australian economy.
Greg Russo is handling the screenplay (while he also produced writing for the Resident Evil movie reboot and the Saints Row movie), produced by James Wan (Aquaman, The Conjuring) and Simon McQuoid. Todd Garner will be producing with executive producers Larry Kasanoff, E. Bennett Walsh, Michael Clear and Sean Robins.
In other news, the Sonic the Hedgehog movie will be delayed to 2020, as Sonic is now being redesigned after the strong negative reaction it had.
