Manga collective CLAMP created Magic Knight Rayearth from 1993 to 1995, culminating in three volumes. The manga and anime mecha shoujo series was adapted to an anime with two seasons in 1994 and an OVA in 1997.
The story centers on three high school students who were suddenly trapped into a fantasy world and must rescue a princess that is vital in the fate of that world, and theirs. The manga combines shoujo fantasy elements with bits of the mecha and magical girl genres.
