Capcom has announced a new set of cartridge reproductions in celebration of the 30th anniversary for the Mega Man franchise.
To celebrate the occasion, the Japanese company is teaming up with iam8bit to produce limited, physical cartridges for two of the most-beloved entries in the series, Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X. A price point is set to $100 for each cartridge.
Both cartridges can work on the original hardware the games have been released for, and come in two different colors. Each game cart is getting only 8,500 copies made, of which 7,500 are the standard “Opaque Light Blue” for Mega Man 2 and the “Opaque White” for Mega Man X – the other 1,000 copies for each come in “Translucent, Glow-in-the-Dark Blue”.
The carts will arrive in opaque boxes as well so you’ll have no idea if you’re getting the more common coloring, or the rarer glow-in-the-dark style. Each cart box will also contain a newly updated, special-edition instruction manual and a “retro pack-in surprises.”
You can find pre-orders for the Mega Man 2 cart here and the Mega Man X cart here.
Shipments are expect to go out in September of this year.
