New Kingdom Heats III Trailers Confirm Utada Hikaru Theme Song and Monsters, Inc. World

Square Enix has shared a few trailers and new details for Kingdom Hearts III from this years D23 Expo.

The new trailers confirm the previously rumored Monsters, Inc. world, as well as the game’s “Don’t Think Twice” theme song – sung by returning musician Utada Hikaru. The Japanese version is “Chikai,” or “Oath.”

Here are the new trailers:

Square Enix also confirmed (via GameSpot) that the Gummi Ship portions will return and are split into two parts. The exploration phase is described as being more open world, while the combat phase has more foes than before.

The report also notes that all 100 staff in Square Enix’s Osaka studio are working on the game across beginning, middle, and end portions. There are reportedly three worlds or so in each portion, but Square noted this doesn’t mean there are nine total worlds

Finally, Square Enix confirmed it will announce the release date for Kingdom Hearts III at this year’s E3 2018. The game has had a tentative 2018 release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

I can’t wait for this release to tie up all of the loose ends left hanging in a satisfactory and easy to understand manner.

That’s me but with Treasure Planet, sadly both movies were massive failures and it seems that Disney want to forget that both movies exist

Not really feeling the new song. I guess partially because it’s in English, but mostly because it sounds like something more suited for the ending credits.

Rather than stick Black Cauldron in KH3, I’d rather see Disney, or anybody else, really, do a proper version of the full Chronicles of Prydain. That being said, for mashing the first 2 of 5 books together into a single one-off movie, Disney’s Black Cauldron is about as good as it could possibly be.

I’m so hyped but I know I shouldn’t be because I’m genuinely scared that this game will keep getting delayed.

Most of the main games had between 7-8 full worlds based on Disney properties. And usually a tutorial world, a base of operations, some minigame based worlds, single dungeon worlds like Monstro and 1-2 other full worlds not based on any specific Disney property. So I’d say 9 worlds is a good estimate for now.

There is actually a slim chance of Treasure Planet at least. Apparently one of it’s producers is working on KH3.

KH1 had 11 and KH 2 had 12. That’s not including mini game worlds like 100 acre wood and KH2 Atlantica or tutorial worlds like Destiny Islands or Data Twilight Town. KH1 had 3 original worlds and 8 Disney worlds. KH2 had 3 original worlds and 9 Disney worlds.

    Confirmed worlds for KH3 are:
    Twilight Town
    Olympus
    Monster’s Inc
    Toy Story
    Corona (Tangled)
    Big Hero 6

Square Enix says “3 worlds in beginning middle and end doesn’t mean only 9 worlds” but they could easily be referring only to mini game worlds when they say there’s more. They also said this game will have less worlds, but they’ll be bigger, even more reason not to think there’s going to anything but minigame worlds beyond these nine. This leaves us with 3 unknown worlds that they’re making “full size”. Likely two of these are not Disney based on previous games, one being the final world. That leaves us with one MAYBE two unknown full Disney worlds.

It’s highly doubtful both Treasure Planet and Atlantis would make it in. It’s doubtful either would show up at all since Disney is pushing newer and more popular movies in the new game. They’re also shoving dumb fucking Disney World rides in as attacks where we could of had more summons from less popular titles. I want my fucking Disney movie nostalgia, not in game ads to go to Disney World.

That’s the Osaka team that’s working on the nine worlds they mentioned, though. Isn’t at least some of the Tokyo team working on the game now, too?

I just don’t want there to only be six or seven Disney worlds, especially when only one of the confirmed ones is a 2D animated world. I want worlds like Treasure Planet, Lilo and Stitch (on the island proper this time) or motherfucking Emperor’s New Groove. People also want Black Cauldron, so I’d be fine with that or some other older Disney movie, too, but I’m dreading the possibility that the only other Disney world left to be revealed is Frozen.
