The live-action Ghost in the Shell movie has launched in theaters to mostly fart-noises, confused enthusiasts, and newcomers alike – so Production I.G isn’t wasting any time in revealing they’re working on a new anime based on the classic series penned by Masamune Shirow.

Details are currently scant, however we know the new anime will be co-directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series) and Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed, Bubblegum Crisis).

That’s basically all we know for now, however it’s pretty much guaranteed the new anime will top the befuddled live-action flick. Have you seen the live-action Ghost in the Shell movie? Sound off in the comments below if you prefer the original anime movie, the series, or maybe even the live-action one!
