New Fable Announced for PC and Xbox Series X

Microsoft have announced Fable during the Xbox Games Showcase.

It has been ten years since the last main installment of the Fable franchise, with Fable III releasing in 2010. Though there was a Kinect title in 2012, and a card game in 2017, the series has not had the prominence it once did over a decade ago.

Though Lionshead Studios dissolved in 2016 after its acquisition by Microsoft in 2006, the new Fable game is being developed by Playground Games, which is mostly known for the Forza Horizon series.

The Fable series is known for its action-RPG combat, irreverent humor, and most notably its alignment feature (which was heavily advertised in the first game’s release). The trailer acknowledges this history, describing the world as a place of stories filled with “legendary heroes and treacherous villains.”

You can find the announcement trailer below.

“Fable returns with a new beginning for the legendary franchise. Explore a land of fantastical creatures and wondrous places. Developed by Playground Games for Xbox Series X and Windows 10.”

Fable is coming soon to Windows 10, and Xbox Series X.
