New “Extremely Spoopy” Trailer for Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water

Nintendo has revealed a new trailer for Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water.

Featured above, the “extremely spoopy” (Nintendo clearly made a typo) trailer shows off roughly two minutes of spooky moments from the upcoming Wii U exclusive.

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water is launching on October 22nd exclusively via the Wii U eShop in North America, and on October 30th both via the eShop and via a limited retail edition in Europe.

Fuck NoA for releasing this game like this. No ads, digital only, takes half of a Wii U deluxe. Bet they’ll use the poor sales as an excuse to not release other Fatal Frame games.
The best thing to do is buy it and shove it in their Mario/Splatoon filled faces.

Really looking forward to this one. I’ve never been able to handle Horror games, (the Zero/Fatal Frame series especially) so this will be interesting

Enjoyed the trailer and the dub. I know its supposed to be a joke and if it was any other company I’d be having a laugh but since this is probably the first time that Nintendo has ever acknowledged this game in NA I can’t help but feel a bit insulted as a fan of this series,

I’m importing the EU LE so I can at least have it for my FF collection and look forward to playing it as soon as someone figures out how to region free the Wii U

I actually managed to place an order on Amazon france when it was on since they directly ship to the USA and was by far the cheapest of all the amazon but unfortunately like the other amazons they closed fast. Might be too expensive or outside your comfort level but you can use a forwarding service like

    https://www.forward2me.com/?gclid=CjwKEAjw-vewBRDH1-b52Lig1hkSJACTPfVFIkz-GtsEUux3Q_d0CE78pCxnjMPgwJookARprlsYiBoCE8jw_wcB

and place the order at Game.uk and once the service has it they’ll ship it to you.

Oh, I have enough space, that’s a minor concern, but would be solved if they put the game on a disc. I just dislike how NoA is managing their non kid friendly games, look at the date Xenoblade is releasing, dead end of the Christmas sales season.

Just because the problem can be dealt with doesn’t mean it isn’t there in the first place.

I already don’t like buying games digitally but when you don’t have a proper account system AND your largest internal hard drive is only 32 gigs, releasing something this big (size-wise) as a digital only game is just begging for nobody to even give it a chance.

Maybe I’m just an outlier, but I’ve never had problems with storage space in my entire life. I have plenty of old HDDs laying around – and convert them into external ones with enclosures when I need to. I’ve owned several laptops and PCs thoughout my life and I usually retain the HDD before getting rid of the rest of the hardware. I’m not saying there isn’t a problem and I hear you loud and clear, but an external storage solution for me is really not a big deal or keeping me from getting a game.
IMO, finding extra file storage is about as easy trying to find a gas station…unless you live in the boonies somewhere. But then I guess EVERYTHING’S far away in those cases.

Clearly zero shits given on market research. This is a game that appeals to the more hardcore crowd that will trend higher towards physical release titles.

Or I am severly underestimating how much resignation has taken place in the consumer market and people will buy it digitally anyways.

I’m willing to put up with digital in certain situations (for example, I won’t deny that I have Yakuza 5 preordered) but the thing is with that game, if my PS3 fries itself I can still play the game on another system as long as I log into my account. If my Wii U dies, this game is just fucking gone unless I jump through hoops with NoA’s customer service.

That, and while my PS3 has a pretty small HDD (I don’t remember exactly how big it is, but it’s definitely less than 200 gigs with 75% of that being used already) it’s still massive compared to the frankly pathetic size the Wii U has.

Yeah. I can’t even get this game or Yakuza 5 because my HDD space is full. From what I remember, Yakuza games are like 40+ GB and Fatal Frame takes a huge bite out of the Wii-U. It’s absolutely ridiculous when you have these AAA companies backing down from Physical Editions, but a company like Xseed puts out physical copies for their even more obscure titles. Sega and KT just need to sell off their IP’s if they’re really in this bad of a shape.

Digital is fine on PC where prices are evened out.
And it’s not that bad on other consoles where it’s easy to download and manage games.
But on Nintendo systems…that’s another story.
There’s no cloud saves, games tied to game systems not accounts, it’s very inconvenient.

Ironically enough this game would have done better as a multiplat, including PC.
Most of the horror market is there now. And the weeb market is on the Sony systems.
I don’t get why they chose WiiU exclusivity, Nintendo isn’t doing them any favours with marketing or anything either.

Not sure where all of the venom is coming from, truth be told. Here’s Nintendo releasing a game you’ve been begging for, localized, in a format that can mitigate their costs on this game, a niche game that is at risk of not being worth their effort, and apparently that’s not good enough because it’s not being stamped on a disc and sold at GameStop.

  43. Offendatron_5000
    Offendatron_5000

Totally agree on the native WiiU size being a detriment there.

Maybe I’m showing my age, but I don’t like being beholden to a digital services for products that I paid to OWN. I still have carts from 20+ years ago and I’d like to have these same games 20+years from now.

At least with a disc, if something happens, I just lose a game. I don’t lose ALL my games for the system one shot from a HDD crash.

Or, I’m a crotchety old man that needs to STFU.

Digital only wouldn’t be a problem if the Wii U didn’t come with such a pathetic hard drive. If you, like I, own a 32 GB Wii U, then you likely have to wipe most of your games, minus small indie titles and emulated older games that take up little space. If you own a 8 GB Wii U you’re straight up fucked. You either buy an external HDD or you can’t play it, period.

I don’t understand the issue anymore because if you have a ps4 or xbox one everything is installed whether it’s on disc or not so I find digital is better now. On nintendo you can still run from the disc and I get that america isn’t getting a disc and in the UK they’ve long sold out of the hard copy, but it’s still nicer having the game on the hard drive waiting.

Well then they clearly have other games to justify an HDD purchase, your logic only makes sense if people HAVEN’T bought a Wii U yet because having other games means you’ve got other things to use the extra space for.

Newsflash, producing physical copies costs money, and it is typically an upfront cost, unless you can justify a major release, you lose money just by doing it for niche releases.

That’s why most niche releases get a digital only release, because digital distro costs next to nothing comparatively.

You want physical releases? make a petition like people did with Operation Rainfall, don’t just sit there and bitch like a spoiled brat because you may have to pay extra just because the company didn’t have enough of a reason to justify a game you clearly didn’t give that much of a shit about.
