New Aero Fighters game in development after nearly 27 years

Aero Fighters

SUCCESS Corporation has announced they’re working on a new Aero Fighters game, the first new entry for the series in nearly 27 years.

The new Aero Fighters game was announced during Hamster Corporation’s “502nd Arcade Archiver Super Valley ’91 Special!” broadcast, where SUCCESS staff Nagatomo Shinya announced the new shoot ’em up game.

Originally known as Sonic Wings (ソニックウィングス, Sonikku wingusu) in Japan, the first game was Aero Fighters / Sonic Wings in 1992. It got sequels Aero Fighters 2 in 1994 and Aero Fighters 3 in 1995, the Japan-only compilation Sonic Wings Special in 1996, and the last entry with Aero Fighters Assault in 1997.

A full reveal event for the new Aero Fighters game is planned for November 8th at the EXBAR Tokyo Plus in Shinjuku, Tokyo. We’ll report on the full reveal.
