New Action RPG Victor Vran Revealed

Tropico developer Haemimont Games looks to be jumping into the online action RPG arena with the reveal of their latest title, Victor Vran. Though some were allowed to view the game last August at a private showing during Gamescom, the developer formally revealed it today with the short gameplay video seen below. According to the developer, a full release is planned this summer for PC, with other platforms to follow. They also expressed their intent to place it on Steam early access in order to allow for fan feedback.

The way the main character evades attacks in the video below, by roll-dodging, is reminiscent of Diablo 3. The last area in the video, the one with the tree-lined bridge, looks almost exactly like the wooded area in Diablo 3‘s first act, too. This may be an unfair comparision, however, since it’s still quite early in development and likely to change considerably before release.

Victor Vran will be coming to PCs and other platforms (which will be announced this summer). It’s a cooperative  project between Bulgarian veteran independent studio Haemimont Games, best known for the Tropico series, and publisher EuroVideo Medien.

“The team’s goal,” the press release reads, “is to bring a fresh perspective to the genre by adding a broad range of equipment and special moves that drastically change combat, along with a simple, but game-changing, jumping mechanic that separates itself from many titles in the action-RPG genre. Players will also be able to play co-op with friends online.”

Victor Vran will be the first action-RPG the development team has created. Maybe this is why, prior to final release, Victor Vran will be available via Steam’s Early Access.

You can visit the game’s official website, although it’s little more than a placeholder at this point. We’ll keep you posted as more info becomes available.
