Cozy horror life sim Neverway announced

Neverway

One of the more intriguing games unveiled during The Triple-i Initiative stream was Neverway, a horror “life-sim” developed by Coldblood, Outersloth, as well as the pixel artist from Celeste.

A lot of people have compared it to Stardew Valley due to the art style and the farming elements. It’s a fair comparison, but unlike Stardew Valley, there is a strong emphasis on horror and dark fantasy in Neverway. It seems to be the latest in a line of cozy horror games such as Dredge and We Harvest Shadows.

In Neverway, you play for Fiona, a young woman who is invited to an island to take of a strange farm as the immortal herald of a dead god. Of all the games that were unveiled at The Triple-i Initiative, Neverway (and perhaps Void/Breaker) is the one that has gotten the most attention. The game also has a soundtrack composed by Disasterpeace.

There isn’t yet a release date for Neverway, or even word on whether it will eventually get to consoles (hopefully!) but will release for Windows PC (via Steam).

Here’s a rundown of the game:

Neverway is a blend of horror, life sim, and action RPG. After Fiona quits her job, she starts over on a farm and becomes the immortal herald of a dead god. Keep your life from falling apart while searching for Neverway, a nightmare reality that is slowly leaking into yours.

Co-directed by the pixel artist of Celeste and with music by Disasterpeace.
