Netflix’s Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Reveals New Trailer

Netflix has released a new trailer for Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, just before the upcoming release.

Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 is a Netflix distributed original series, and is premiering exclusively on the internet streaming service. The new Netflix series is done entirely with 3DCG, instead of more traditional animation.

The new Netflix anime is based off the original Ghost in the Shell series by Masamune Shirow that began in 1989. After a popular 1995 anime, it was soon followed by multiple animated films and video games. More recently, a 2017 live-action film was released in the west starring Scarlett Johansson.

According to the official staff page, the new series is being produced by Production I.G and being directed by both Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama.

Ghost in the Shell follows the members of Public Security Section 9 in the fictional city of Niihama. The main character is Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cyborg with a thorough full body prosthesis.

With the increasing cyberization of both society and the bodies of citizens, crimes committed with technology are on the rise and increasingly dangerous. This leaves it up to groups like Public Security Section 9 and agents like Major Motoko Kusanagi to investigate and stop them.

You can find the new trailer below.

Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 premieres April 23rd on Netflix.
