File this one under the completely strange: the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Netflix is gearing up to develop a live-action version of The Legend of Zelda.
While this is definitely a rumor for now, sources are reported to have said that production is currently in the early stages, and that Netflix is working very closely with Nintendo. Hopefully this means we’re not going to see another debacle like the Legend of Zelda cartoon that saw a release back in the late ’80s.
The report gets even more interesting when it mentions that Netflix is looking to make the show like HBO’s Game of Thrones, only with a lot less sex and violence, in a more “family friendly” production. The production staff are looking for a writer, so it’s probably going to be a while until we hear something official about this, if we hear anything at all.
We’ll keep you guys posted.
