Netflix have released the debut trailer for Dragon’s Dogma, based off Capcom’s action RPG video game.
As previously reported, Netflix announced an anime series based off Dragon’s Dogma was in development. This first look has revealed the series will be in CGI.
Dragon’s Dogma is a fantasy roleplaying game that originally released in 2012 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Players take on the role of the “Arisen,” an adventurer who is fated to fight the evil dragon Grigori, said to be a harbinger of the world’s end.It also utilized AI companions that learned how to deal with various enemies and scenarios based on your actions.
The game takes place in the fantasy world of Gransys, which is rife with monsters such as griffins and dragons. The player character in the game is customizable, though based on the teaser image for the anime, the Arisen will be a dark haired man.
You can find the official trailer below.
“After losing his home to a dragon, Ethan sets out to hunt it down once and for all. A pawn appears by his side and serves to protect his life. But the dangers that lie in wait for Ethan are beyond their imaginations, for when you fight a monster… you just may become one too.”
Dragon’s Dogma premieres September 17th on Netflix.
Capcom submitting other franchises to Netflix for animated series is not wholly unexpected after the runaway success of the recent Castlevania. That was confirmed to be getting a fourth season earlier this year.
