NES Remix Contest is Cancelled Due to Exploit

nes remix ss 1

In case you missed it – Nintendo had a surprise reveal in a recent Nintendo Direct – they were going to put out a new game that featured remixed classics from the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was an announcement that came almost out of left field, but it definitely seemed like a nice treat for fans of classic Nintendo games.

To celebrate the launch of NES Remix on the Wii U, Nintendo held a contest to promote the game. The rules were as follows – you had to try beating a specific stage as quickly as you could. Sounds pretty straightforward, right? Unfortunately, some fans thought they would get an edge over the competition by constantly pausing the game, so that they could cheat the clock.

Due to this exploitation, the contest has been completely cancelled. I guess some people are out to ruin the fun of others, right?
