Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines, a game where you’re tasked to lead a family that is cursed to only live two years, is looking pretty wicked. Unfortunately, this is the first game in the series to make it to us English speaking players, so a recap might be necessary.
Fortunately for you, dear reader, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has published a trailer that showcases all of the game’s key features. First we get a retelling of the game’s story, like how Abeno Seimei murdered an entire family. The family was later revived by the goddess Nueko, but in return for their saving, both the family and their descendants were cursed to only live two years.
The only way of lifting the curse is for the family to finally kill Abeno Seimei, a goal that lies at the end of fighting numerous oni, Japanese demons, and by exploring dungeons with new generations of the family – as each new member can only live two years.
In case that whole two year lifespan is still making you scratch your head, that was also detailed in the video. Players will also have to perform specific rituals with various gods and deities using an energy called “Dedication Points,” a system that passes on the experience and the traits of characters to their descendants before they pass on into the next world.
Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines is set for a release on July 17th in Japan, and in Western countries at a later date.
