With The Last of Us television series airing right now, people naturally have questions about game creator’s Naughty Dog’s future plans.
Some obvious questions include whether or not they’ll make a third title, or if they’ll be moving on to something else. As it turns out, Uncharted won’t be worked on next, or even at all.
Naughty Dog director Neil Druckmann discussed some thoughts on Naughty Dog’s future when it comes to games.
“Uncharted 4 was one of our best selling games” he said (via Buzzfeed). “We’re able to put our final brushstroke on that story and say that we’re done. We’re moving on.”
The quote is rather conclusive on its meaning, much to the dismay of Uncharted fans who might’ve been hoping for more. However, he was much more open about a sequel for The Last of Us.
“It’s up to us whether we want to continue it or not. Our process is the same thing we did when we did Part 2″ Druckmann explained.
He added, “Which is if we can come up with a compelling story that has this universal message and statement about love — just like the first and second game did — then we will tell that story.”
While Naughty Dog appear to be finished with the Uncharted series, Sony definitely isn’t. The recent film based on the video game was successful and the company considers it now to be its own franchise.
This likely means that even without new games coming out, we’ll most certainly see new movies based on the IP.
Meanwhile, you can also play the recently released Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection port for PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store).
