The Natsume’s Book of Friends management have announced the first-ever Natsume’s Book of Friends game adaptation.
Details on the first Natsume’s Book of Friends game are scant like a developer, genre of game, and platforms, though a reveal event is set for December 23rd at 1AM Japan time (8AM Pacific / 11AM EST on December 22nd). Its official title is Natsume’s Book of Friends: Hazuki no Shirushi (Hazuki’s Chronicle).
For those unaware, Natsume’s Book of Friends is a long-running and popular manga that has been in serialization since 2007, and has amassed 17+ million copies in circulation. Its popularity has led to it getting several adaptations with anime film, OVA anime releases, and regular anime TV series, the latter of which is on its seventh season.
The original story follows a boy named Takashi Natsume who inherits his grandmother Reiko’s supernatural powers to detect and even fight Japanese yokai demons. Takashi finds his grandmother’s old “Book of Friends,” where she bound both good and evil spirits to its pages and could call upon them later.
