My Hero Academia manga ended this week

My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia) has finally ended after a 10 year run. The final chapter of the series came out this week in magazine Shonen Jump.

For the past 10 years, My Hero Academia has stood shoulder to shoulder with the big shonen series, rivaling NarutoOne Piece, and more in popularity. The series has spawned multiple video games, crossovers, anime movies, and more in its 10 year run, and will likely continue to do so with a live-action movie from Netflix seemingly still in the works.

In an interview with Oricon, series creator Kohei Horikoshi shared his thoughts on the series ending, saying:

“It’s surprisingly sad. I’m thinking, ‘I’m finally reaching the goal’…

It was canceled twice, and I thought, ‘I’m done with manga.’ My editor at the time told me, ‘Don’t give up,’ and ‘Do your best,’ so I thought, ‘Okay, let’s give it one last try,’ and decided to include a lot of things I like and draw only things that are easy for me to draw.”

While the manga has ended, the anime series still hasn’t reached its conclusion and we can expect more episodes (and probably more movies) before everything is said and done.

For any fans who haven’t been spoiled yet, we highly suggest avoiding social media for a few days.
