Motorhead Set To Create Their Own Game, Courtesy Of Victor Vran Developer

While video games based on music bands have always been a little awkward, they tend to create a certain odd fascination that lives long after the band itself moves on. Of course, there are some celebrated cases of bands appearing in an otherwise unrelated game, but for the most part, the music and gaming world haven’t really done a good job at teaming up. Much less successfully breaking into the mainstream.

Metal band Motorhead is going to be doing their best to change that, however, with the recent announcement that they are teaming up with Victor Vran developer Haemimont Games to create a new title that combines the group’s music with classic action RPG combat. Crafted to honor the band’s upcoming 40th anniversary (and accompanying album, apparently), the new game won’t just be Victor Vran with a new coat of paint:

Motorhead defines the themes of the game as Victor faces evils relevant to our own world – religious fanatics, corrupt politicians and power-hungry oppressive rulers,” states the official press release. “During these quests he will be supported not only by the newly designed Motor-Weapons, powers and skills, but also a soundtrack with over a dozen tracks never heard before!

Fighting corrupt heads of state and zealous fundamentalists while listening to metal music does sound rather interesting. Whether they can pull it off in a way that pleases Motorhead’s fans (as well as ARPG players) is something we’ll have to wait to find out.

For those new to the band’s sound, Motorhead’s 22nd studio album, Black Magic releases the 28th of this month.
