Mother 1 Finally Comes West as Earthbound Beginnings

Nintendo has announced Earthbound Beginnings at their Nintendo World Championships event.

The new game is actually a Wii U virtual console exclusive, and a long-awaited English translation of Mother 1.

Earthbound Beginnings is available today on the Wii U eShop.

Man, that’s pretty neat! Gotta beat Earthbound first though.

    Wasn’t Earthbound/Mother 2 a remake in the first place?

This could easily run on a 3DS. Wii U exclusivity is pretty lame.

    No, it was a sequel.

Nice! but I’ve been there done that years ago. Honestly the first one isn’t even that good. Grind commence.

It only took, what, 20 years? Now they have to localize Mother 3. =)

    Oh, that’s nifty–
    “For the Wii U”
This game could run on my cellphone let alone the 3DS. Are you joking? Why would you do this?

Nevermind. This is Nintendo we’re talking about.

Wii U only, I guess the Wii U emulator has magic powers that Mother 1 needs to run.

I’m pretty sure they’ll put it on 3ds eventually. No reason not too with 3ds’s thriving nes library

Addendum: Earthbound Beginnings is an NES RPG, so expect similar trappings to NES Dragon Warrior with the excessive grinding.

Pretty sure they want to give people incentive to buy a WiiU.

Put them all on the 3ds!

No, you don’t. Actually it would be better if you play this one first so you have no expectations. A lot of people who loved Earthbound can’t into the grind of the NES days.

Earthbound collection, I can see it now. Be still my beating heart.

Interesting. I didn’t know about this one. I think I’ll give it a second chance, thanks for pointing it out!

Same reason they started releasing NINTENDO DS games on the WII FREAKING U

To give people reasons to buy one, even if it makes no sense.

It’s nice that it’s finally available officially, but let’s be honest – anyone who really wants to play it has done so many years ago.
