Developer Round Toast Studios has announced an early access release date for Mortal Rite, their 5-player soulslike/roguelike co-op action RPG.
Mortal Rite will launch via early access on November 7th for Windows PC (via Steam) and will remain in early access for 1 to 2 years.
Players can expect the current early access build to include: a complete game loop, 3 playable characters, 18 enemy types, 5 bosses, 2 skill trees per characters, multiplayer, and player-versus-player combat.
Here’s a rundown on the game, plus a new trailer:
The core of Mortal Rite is a fast, action-based melee combat system that allows players to trade blows with enemies and rewards strategy over button-mashing. Choose from a variety of characters to embody, each with their own lore, fighting style, and abilities.
Overcome enemies by using different skills, strategies, cooperation, collecting and crafting items to stop the encroachment of the king. Play solo, or in multiplayer from the very start of the game, with a maximum party size of 5. Duel with your friends in the refuge for additional rewards. Be wary, as a larger party size will attract additional enemies.
Evolving Combat & Progression
Find ability points and items scattered throughout the world to unlock new strategies in combat. Items can be traded between players, and ability points can be spent in the refuge to customize your playstyle. Each area is guarded by a gatekeeper, upon their defeat, players can revisit the area for an additional challenge. When revisiting an area, players will traverse through an updated map, face new enemy compositions, and find new items.
