Mortal Kombat Goes Retro In Atari 2600 Tech Demo

If you find retro “de-makes” to be of interest, then you might want to check out what user Jinroh released a couple of weeks ago on the Atari Age forums. Jinroh, being a fan of Midway’s Mortal Kombat series, decided to squeeze some of the base mechanics and imagery of the game into an Atari 2600-driven tech demo, which you can read about and download in its discussion thread.

As of now, you can play a two player game with Raiden, and the game is fairly stable up until the second round. Being a tech demo, it isn’t very complete, naturally. Though the sheer fact that the fight logic has been successfully worked in is a feat in and of itself. Jinroh has no current plans to continue the project, but is leaving it open for others to pick up if they feel they can finish it.
