Mortal Kombat 1 quietly removes crossplay feature from Steam page

Mortal Kombat 1 Crossplay

SteamDB shows us that Mortal Kombat 1 has quietly removed its cross-platform multiplayer category.

Twitter user BruskPoet pointed out this change, and also states that the crossplay and cross Progression information on the game’s official site was removed, now only showing a “info coming soon” description.

This is very important for players who pre-ordered the game, as it means that they will be stuck playing with people in their own platform, which usually leads to the playerbase migrating to a single console and leaving other versions of the game empty.

Steam users especially may want to reconsider their pre-order and possibly move to consoles, as multiplatform fighting games without crossplay are known to die off very fast on PC.

As of right now, neither Ed Boon or Netherrealm Studios have released a statement about this.

Mortal Kombat 1 is launching on September 19th across PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PlayStation 5.
