Publisher Super Rare Originals and developer Pixel Reign announced a delay for Moros Protocol, their pixelated sci-fi horror first-person shooter.
Moros Protocol will forgo its previously planned September 4th release for one a bit later, on September 18th for Windows PC (via Steam).
While the game would have launched the same day as Hollow Knight: Silksong, the team noted the delay was made to “give all teams a little more time,” though Silksong did play a “major factor” in the decision.
Here’s the full word from the team on the delay:
In full transparency, whilst Silksong did play a major factor in the decision, our deciding reason was to give all teams a little more time.
Two weeks, though not massive in the grand scheme of things, gives the dev team a little bit of breathing room in finalising the launch build (Nick keeps adding more augments and weapons), gives our awesome composer more time for the finishing touches to tracks, and gives marketing more time to outreach press and influencers (Gamescom and PAX take up a lot of bandwidth).
We’d also like to launch simultaneously on GOG (which we’ll be announcing later today), so that was another contributing factor.
I hope this makes sense, and as one of the main decision makers I hope you can understand my thoughts on our reasoning. I’d rather the teams didn’t die before launch, and I might have been chasing them with a whip for a little too long.
