Ahead of Shining Resonance’s December 11 release in Japan, just two days from now, Sega has revealed more details about the character, Marion, and some extra information about the game’s mechanics.
There are a few story spoilers below, so beware. Click the thumbnails for the full images.
Marion Lu Shila
Seiyuu: Miyuki Sawashiro
Class: Cannoneer
Weapon: Dragon Eye Cannon Barmonium
Main Magic Type: Healing and Support Magic
Both Marion and her twin brother, Et, were raised by mad scientist Joachim at Geilritz Prison as living experimental weapons; adversity brings people closer together, which is probably why the siblings are on good terms. Yuma knows the pair from his time in captivity as the subject of an experiment; keen on learning the truth about the twins, sets out to find them himself. Interestingly, Marion’s golden left eye is that of a dragon …
The events that lead to Marion joining Yuma’s crew haven’t been revealed, but we do know that Marion can eventually join the team. Due to her history of working for Joachim, she’s a solid ally on the battlefield. As a Dragoner, she can shoot a wide variety of magic shells from her weapon, the Dragon Eye Cannon Barmonium, and this ability gives her a playstyle that’s distinct from the rest of the cast.
Marion doesn’t immediately fit in the group when she joins it. Kirika will, for example, visit Yuma’s room one day, to finds Yuma and Marion talking in close proximity, and subsequently feel irked at the display. Tomboyish Marion, still not aware of her feminine appeal, reassures Kirika that she simply came to tell Yuma her thanks before heading out, leaving Kirika with mixed feelings deep down.
Yuma’s Dragon Form
New details were also released about Yuma’s dragon form.
Yuma has two levels of transformation for his dragon form, Kouryuu, each unlocking successively more power, culminating in his awakened form. In this awakened form, Kouryuu’s bonds with the Armonic-wielding dragoners becomes stronger, as well, which means that Resonances are more easily executed because of their reduced cost and casting times, and tuning effects are improved, among other things. Kouryuu’s Progress Form attacks primarily with claws, while his Awakened Form attacks primarily with breath.
In his Awakened Form, Irvan’s BAND Performance also improves. While BAND Performance is in effect, he is invulnerable and all of his attacks can Break enemies. Additionally, when the Band Performance Gauge bottoms out, he performs a D Union with another character.
This close to the game’s release, more information is unlikely to be released, so for more coverage you can look back through our archives. Thanks to Gematsu for this update.
