As if we didn’t have enough reasons to love Good Old Games, they have finally ended the long tease about which games would make the cut for their second wave of Lucasfilm titles and have done something many fans have been waiting for: They have managed to get Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight working on modern Windows operating systems.
In the update, they also announce the release of Republic Commando and Star Wars – Starfighter, but it’s mainly Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight that many, including me, were clamoring for.
Though you could always play Jedi Knight on modern systems using workarounds made available by JKHub, the game still cannot run at higher resolutions, widescreen sizes, and lacks stability. Even the digital version on Steam is broken, it’s problems so numerous that the lack of music playing in the background is the least of its problems.
Though there is no hardware mode available in Windows 8, it’s incredible that you can now run the game in its 3D accelerated mode on high-end resolutions within Windows 7 and Vista. There goes one of my wishes finally granted.
