Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter X has shipped over three million units in Japan.
This number includes both download cards, physical cartridges, and sales of the download version on the Nintendo eShop.
The publisher went on to make a note of the series worldwide shipments, which have surpassed more than 36 million units (Editor’s Note: as of December 24th, 2015) since the original Monster Hunter in 2004.
Capcom talked up the latest in the series, in the press release:
“Monster Hunter X (Cross)” is a new title that offers individual players greater possibilities in developing their own style of hunting. Utilizing the world and gameplay of previous entries as a starting point, the game is distinguished by its high level of freedom with new elements like Hunter Arts and Hunting Styles, which can be combined with 14 kinds of weapons to create a myriad of fresh ways to play.”
Finally, Capcom has lots of things planned for the series in the near future, starting off in January 2016 with the Monster Hunter Festa’16, a massive event that takes place across five major Japanese cities. This also includes the Universal Studios Japan attraction “Monster Hunter the Real.”
