Monster Hunter X is Announced for 3DS

Capcom has announced (via FamitsuMonster Hunter X (pronounced as ‘Cross’) for the Nintendo 3DS.

The game is described as a bold new sequel, built within the same engine as Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and set for a release in Japan some time this Winter.

Capcom is promising new moves, areas, monsters, and super actions for all weapons. Featured above, you can view the game’s debut trailer. The team behind the game is focusing on providing an experience varied enough so that every player can find their own preferred fighting style.

There will be more numbers and  variations to each action, and there will be special attacks that you can unleash to further those actions. Additionally, there will be four styles of play, which give ample room to switch things up a bit.

The starting village for the game is Beruna, as you can see above in the debut screenshots for the game. The village is set up just in front of a huge mountain range. There will be villages from previous games in the series making a return in Monster Hunter X.

As for big milestones, there will be the aforementioned four styles of play, four villages, and four main creatures to defeat. Finally, if you have save data from the recently announced Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Palico Village DX, you’ll get a special bonus.
