Activision Blizzard announced the Modern Warfare 2 reboot is first playable this September with two public beta tests.
PlayStation players will be able to enjoy the game first and longer due to Activision-Blizzard’s contractual commitment to PlayStation.
The first PlayStation only beta will start at 10am PST on September 16-17th, for players who preordered the game. Then, from September 18-20 all PlayStation users will be able to play.
The Second beta test will be from September 22-23 for those who preorder on Xbox or PC, as well as PlayStation, and then the open beta period will be from 24-26 for all platforms.
That means that PlayStation console owners will be able to have access to twice the amount of time on the beta compared to other platforms, a business deal that Microsoft has said they will honor when their purchase of Activision-Blizzard goes through.
There will be in-game rewards available to those who hop into the beta, but all rewards will also be able to be gained while playing the game when it launches.
The developers promise that Modern Warfare 2 will improve upon the core mechanics of Call of Duty as well as ship with many maps of differing sizes, some of which will be available to the players during the beta.
If you’re looking to pre-order Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, you can get the Vault Edition which comes with several skins of members from Red Team 141. These skins will also be available to use in the beta test period.
More information about the beta will be announced during the Call of Duty: Next showcase on September 15 with the full reveal of the multiplayer and, most likely, updates to the ever popular Warzone.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II reboot was previously dated for October 28th, 2022 across Windows PC (via Battle.net and Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
