Playism has announced the PlayStation 4 release date for Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae.
The action game will launch for the console on February 16th in North America, via the PlayStation Store. The game will cost $11.99.
In case you missed it, you can find our review for the PC release of the game here (we recommend it, however you should read our review first).
It’s worth mentioning developer Zenith Blue published the game on Xbox One in Japan – while a western Xbox One release isn’t confirmed yet.

February 4, 2016 at 10:44 amI remember the little demo they had of this game back when steam greenlight was still kinda fresh and not inundated with kawaii games. It didn’t play that great but it was novel, I guess.
This game came a long way if it’s getting a PS4 release at this point.

February 4, 2016 at 10:53 amThis game’s great, if you don’t mind it being very short. There’s almost no story, as well, but I think the combat is really tight and it’s very satisfying.
However, it’s already out on PC, so I see no reason to get a PS4 version unless they’re adding something to it.

February 4, 2016 at 11:03 amPantsu May Cry is alright. It’s a pretty noble attempt at making a beat’em up with depth, combo options, and haptic feedback. Unfortunately, due to what I assume would be the restraints of making a low budget indie game, they didn’t have access to the greatest animation tools – nor the time and man power. So you’ll frequently see targets loop in very simple, unsatisfying animations as you hit them. The hit spark is also lacking. This makes doing the one thing this game focuses on – kicking people’s shit in through a bloody palace-esque main story – feel rather dull.
That being said, fuck it, It plays very well, and they were creative with their limitations. By the very nature of how it plays, it reminds me most of Ninja Gaiden over any other comparisons I’ve seen made. If you don’t already own it on PC, get this shit. If you somehow have a rig that hasn’t been updated since 1998, then buy it on your PS4.

February 4, 2016 at 11:31 amThe combat isn’t bad though.

February 4, 2016 at 11:38 amThe combat mechanics are decent enough, but the game is so insanely repetitive. Walk into an arena. Slice up a bunch of dudes wearing motorcycle helmets. Slice up another wave of dudes wearing motorcycle helmets. Walk into another arena. Slice up a bunch of dudes wearing motorcycle helmets. Lather rinse repeat. At least eventually you get robot looking dudes to fight and the boss fights break up the monotony a bit, but enemy variety is severely lacking in this title.

February 4, 2016 at 11:39 amIs this the game where you could hit the enemies with a bunch of weak slashes until they grow red then seathe your blade like a badass and watch them explode?
I liked that game.

February 4, 2016 at 1:34 pm$11.99 Not too high, yet not too low. I will have to jump in at this price point.

February 4, 2016 at 1:41 pmNo bonus content? That’s a shame. I really liked it on PC. It was fun.

February 4, 2016 at 2:15 pmIt’s coming to the XB1 in the west as well it was rated by PEGI back in November.

February 4, 2016 at 2:21 pmI hope Zenith Blue makes a follow up to this some day with an actual campaign to go through instead of just an arena. Some additional polish with actual levels and they’ll have a winner. Maybe after they finish SkyLens.

February 5, 2016 at 12:11 pmI am definitely gonna buy this since we need more DMC type games. I really like stylish action titles that kick my ass and strive me to improve not to mention mechanical depth that gives it infinite replay value. I hope this game will be picked up by a major developer and given more polish along with an indepth training mode.
