Sony and Mojang have confirmed that Minecraft is getting a physical release on Playstation platforms. The Playstation 3 retail version of the game will be coming on May 14th for Europeans, and on May 16th.
While the Playstation 3 version was confirmed via both Playstation USA and U.K., the press releases only specified that version getting a retail box. Curiously, the official Playstation U.K. Facebook page (and Twitter) posted the above image with pack shots for all three, saying “Can you dig it? Minecraft is coming on disc to PS3 on 16th May and soon to PS Vita and PS4.”
Since it’s digital release on Playstation 3 late last year, the game has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide. A release date for the PS4 and Vita versions was not given, but we’ll keep you guys posted. For reference, the North American box art is the same, but you can feast your eyes on it below:
