Million Depth gets big new 2.0 update

Million Depth

Publisher Playism and developer Cyber Space Biotope released a new 2.0 update for Million Depth, their sidescrolling action/strategy roguelike game.

The major new update brings with it a high-difficulty “Dimension Over Mode” that lets you run through various timelines simultaneously. Here’s the full patch notes.

Million Depth was originally released for Windows PC (via Steam) back in November 2025.

Here’s a rundown on the new update, plus a trailer:

Million Depth has received a major 2.0 update!

The meat of this update lies in the new Dimension Over Mode, a high-difficulty mode where you run through various timelines all at once. Weapon crafting has also been enhanced with the introduction of status up tiles. These updates will further enhance the game’s roguelike experience by encouraging strategic decisions and playing your cards just right.

We’ve also added other new features and made various improvements, so let’s take a closer look!

Status Up Tiles

One of the game’s weaknesses was how players would often fall to the same weapon designs every playthrough.

To address this, a new feature has been added: status up tiles. These will encourage players to tweak their designs every run to create differently shaped weapons depending on the placement of tiles, which is random every time.

This enhances the puzzle-like gameplay of weapon crafting, as well as making it easier for players to create harder-hitting weapons. You can now save your highest damage count for reference as you experiment.

We’ve also received feedback that enemies in the latter half of the game feel too bulky. We’ve made it easier to increase your attack power relatively to enemy toughness. If the original difficulty was already a cake walk for you, don’t worry; the new and more difficult Dimension Over Mode will give you the extra challenge you’ve been waiting for!

Dimension Over Mode

This new mode is designed for those who’ve cleared the true ending of the game. Here, you will play through the α, β, and γ routes all at once, and your HP and battery carries over between timelines.

Spores are ever present here, and the true boss has new, more powerful attacks designed specially for this mode. If the game has felt a little too easy for you, do try out the new mode for a challenge!

Dimension Over Mode also supports speedrun records, which we’ll explain further down this post. Once you’ve beaten the true boss again, why not try to improve your playtime record?

Speedrun Support

We’ve added speedrun features such as a run timer and records by implementing advice from actual speedrunners of the game. Elite enemy spawn animations can now be skipped, and other skipping functions have been optimized as well.

Million Depth was designed to be replayed over and over again even after completing the story, and we hope the addition of speedrunning features will add a new layer of challenge and enjoyment in the form of improving your times.
