After many setbacks, Mighty No 9 has finally gotten a release date.
Publisher Deep Silver confirmed the date – February 9th in North America and February 12th for the rest of the world. The game was initially set to launch in April of 2015.
The game will have a physical edition for Wii U, Xbox One, and PS4, with a digital release for PS3, PS Vita, Xbox 360, PC, Linux and Mac.
Editor’s Note: The article originally listed the date only as February 12th. This has been amended for accuracy.

September 25, 2015 at 7:56 pmIf it doesn’t, it’ll have been delayed for all of a month longer than Shovel Knight was when all is said and done.

September 25, 2015 at 7:57 pmThe demo that was coming out on the 15th is now out too through Humble Bundle. It looks like it really was just an issue of not being able to give thousands of people Steam codes that fast.

September 25, 2015 at 8:08 pmNo 3DS? So hard to stay interested in this game at this point. They need 9/10 reviews to get me on board.

September 25, 2015 at 8:19 pmI think at this point I think the only people still hyped up for it are either A) backers with some serious sunk cost fallacy or B) people that haven’t kept up with it at all but still think “oh hey a new game by that megaman guy surely it’ll be good.”

September 25, 2015 at 8:27 pmIt’s honestly just sad at this point.

September 25, 2015 at 8:28 pmYach Club Games managed to release a sucessful game, fulfilled all KS promises and is going to release a pretty damn good DLC entirely for free.
Let’s see what Inafune “I need more money” Conman releases.

Fear not, I’m sure Polygon and Kotaku will give it ample praise.

September 25, 2015 at 9:14 pmStrange absence of Nintendo 3DS in that system lineup…
That’s where I’m getting the game if they actually allow it, but they’ll probably tell me about how hard it is to send out download codes. The game is so underwhelming that the only place where it’d even feel decent is as digital only 3DS game. I don’t expect it to look good or play smoothly on 3DS, but it hasn’t managed either of those *anywhere*, so…
Let’s be honest, they likely killed the 3DS version if they aren’t talking about it. I could be wrong, but the 3DS version was the only place where I can imagine having fun with the game, and Comcept soundly demonstrated that the word “fun” isn’t allowed any closer to Mighty No. 9 than the phrase “business sense”.

I remember when I was excited about this game. Now I just loathe that I put a fairly substantial amount of money in to this joke.

Mighty No. 56008
September 26, 2015 at 3:35 amGot around to playing the demo and wow, was pretty disappointing. It was like I was just playing the beta all over again.
I didn’t see any graphical improvements to the game even though they mentioned that they added an “extra layer of polish has been added to the graphics”. Everything looked practically the same (if not exactly), every character feels lifeless and everything has a plastic look to it. Probably someone can point out some changes to the backgrounds, but it’s negligible. And speaking of backgrounds, what the hell were they thinking with the stage select/base/lab area? They put so much effort into putting pointless and worthless details in the background of some levels, and then they decided to put a blue screen over the entire area? Talk about lazy.
The controls are just as bad as it was in the beta….actually it got worse. Jumping and just walking in general still feels odd, with Beck having a “floaty” feel to his movements but walks and jumps as if he weighs a ton. Dashing distances seem random at times where one minute you dash too far that you end up over a pit, and the next time you don’t go far enough and get crushed by something in the process. Grabbing on the ledges is still a nightmare, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. And then they had to make it ever worse by adding that annoying “stumble” that happens sometimes after landing a jump.
And the voice acting and cut scenes, personally found them unnecessary. I would complain how uninteresting they are and how they ruin the flow of the game, but thankfully they were smart enough to allow you to skip them. Also, using “dubtitles” when using the Japanese audio? Very lazy.
With all that said, and I’ve said this before, it’s still not a “terrible game”. It’s pretty darn mediocre though, and considering our high hopes for the game, I can see why we like to call it “terrible” (I do it too!). And if you wanna try it out, I say do it and form your own opinion. Who knows, maybe you’ll like it.
….It also just occurred to me that I downloaded the demo via a torrent. So yeah, I’m sure it’ll be pretty easy to get a copy of this thing?

September 26, 2015 at 4:43 pmEvery time I hear about this I think of all the things I could have gotten for the money I backed this with. That’s 100 tacos from the Taco Van, or 10-15 trips to my favorite Asian buffet, maybe 1 new and 4 used games from the game store, or a bunch of used games, perhaps the rest of the Haruhi books I don’t have, a very nice Nep daki, a bunch of liquor to forget about this game. I could have been much more satisfied for 100 dollarydoos.

September 27, 2015 at 5:25 amWhen it comes to game journalists? Yes. Extremely. Game journos are notorious for being paid off and influenced by publishers, as well as often times shilling for their friends.

September 27, 2015 at 7:59 amOh wow and now metacritic. Are you going to link me to Kotaku too?
chizwoz
September 27, 2015 at 8:01 amNone of that changes the fact that 95% of games, the critic reviews match the user reviews. That’s something you can literally just check. I’m not disputing that maybe that remaining 5% is down to some kind of corruption.
chizwoz
September 27, 2015 at 9:16 amSo the people who vote on the user reviews on metacritic are some how corrupt as well?
