Comcept and publisher Deep Silver have revealed a new batch of gameplay for Mighty No. 9, their upcoming Mega Man spiritual successor coming to PC, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, 3DS, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Featured above, you can view the new “Beat Them at Their Own Game” trailer, which showcases the various bosses in game. Alongside the new gameplay is the announcement that Mighty No. 9 is cross-buy on PS3, PS4, and PS Vita – meaning that if you buy it on one platform, you get it free on the other two.
The retail and “Signature Edition” for the game were also revealed:
The Playstation 4 retail edition gets you the “Ray” downloadable content, which gets you access to the Abandoned Lab stage, a new boss battle against the new baddie Ray, and the ability to play through the entire game as Ray herself. There’s also a bonus double-sided poster and the “The Art of Mighty No. 9” art booklet, which shows off the various artwork from the game.
The extremely-limited Mighty No. 9: Signature Edition comes with all the goodies from the launch edition on Playstation 4, as well as an individually numbered 6.5” figurine of Beck complete with 14 points of articulation and three interchangeable faceplates.
The signature edition also comes with a metallic foil signature from legendary creator Keiji Inafune across the front, and it will cost $59.99.
Finally, the pre-order bonus “Retro Hero” downloadable content was revealed:
This will give you the ability to play as a super-blocky version of Beck, complete with 8-bit sounding effects, and straight access to the insane “insta-death” mode, where you die instantly from a single hit from an enemy. For the fans looking to unlock the insta-death mode legitimately, you can also get it by completing a specific task in-game, however details for that will come later.
Mighty No. 9 is launching across PC, Mac, Linux, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 15th in North America and September 18th in Europe, followed by the Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita versions “at a later date.”

June 3, 2015 at 11:25 amSooo that cross buy… does that work with the physical copy or just the digital? Also, I hate to say it, but in my opinion (yours may vary) that statue looks like crap. What’s wrong with his face!?! I see he has alternates, so maybe I just don’t like the look of that particular one…

June 3, 2015 at 12:00 pmSweet an art booklet!….which I had to back $120 to get. Granted mine is an art book/strategy guide, but the inclusion of the booklet still devalues it quite a bit.
So anyway, not only does the game now include the Ray “DLC”, but a poster and art booklet for $30. Makes me wonder how bad the game is gonna be considering they’re trying to cram in all this “extra stuff”.

June 3, 2015 at 12:02 pmMay be is not about a bad game, but a bad reputation.

June 3, 2015 at 12:03 pmI played the beta, and I found it to be pretty mediocre.

June 3, 2015 at 12:06 pmThat “retro” skin makes me physically ill.

June 3, 2015 at 12:07 pmI think it’s because that statue basically has a flat face that sticks awkwardly out of his body.

June 3, 2015 at 12:10 pmYeah I was gonna say, when did Minecraft become retro?

June 3, 2015 at 12:13 pmThat figurine reminds me of the Agnes one that came with the Bravely Default CE.

June 3, 2015 at 12:16 pmI know the reputation this game has isn’t the best…but it still looks like a decent game at least. Those bosses look fun.
I’m gonna pick it up. At the very least, if it ends up being not great, it could lead to a sequel that polishes it up and give us the megaman game we all want.

June 3, 2015 at 12:19 pmLast time I checked, a lot of people were looking forward to this game(the game did get a lot of backers). Did I miss something here?

June 3, 2015 at 12:21 pmGameplay shown didn’t look very good so no buy.

June 3, 2015 at 12:28 pmon the game side, some backers got a “meh” impression from the beta. A legitimate reaction that I could understand would make people not want to buy the game.
on the other end of the curtain… oh boy. The extra mini-crowdfunding (3 of them iirc) and the pre-emptive animation announcement made people nervous about the finances. And if you want to really go down the rabbit hole, just look up Dina and her shenanigans.
eltonBorges
June 3, 2015 at 12:51 pmExactly. I mean, they could have used an old art style, like they did in GG Xrd, where 3D really looks like 2D.

June 3, 2015 at 12:52 pmOh. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh.

June 3, 2015 at 12:54 pmOk, I backed this and I’m a little bit confused now. I don’t know if I could get a code for the PS versions or not. Even if the game looks a little bit weak to me.

June 3, 2015 at 12:57 pmGotta pull some extra shekels while there is still some hype for the game.

June 3, 2015 at 12:58 pmI never really fancy this game, I just know about the drama in the past months.
You say is mediocre I’ll just take your word for it.

June 3, 2015 at 1:12 pmThe Jewery commences, full speed ahead. Pre-order bonus that is probably completed and could be put on the disc, but instead they yank it out and dangle it as a carrot.
Also, the Ray DLC is completely done, don’t fucking lie to me. Would it fucking kill them to put EVERYTHING on the disc? DLC here, pre-order bonus there, I want to buy 1 game, not 90% of a game, holy fuck.

June 3, 2015 at 1:15 pmDespite all the BS that went down with this game and their forums, I will say that the gameplay does at least look a bit better than it did in the early vids. Hopefully it’s fun.
Mighty No. 56008
June 3, 2015 at 1:16 pmIt is a personal opinion on the game though, and who knows, you might like it. So I suggest if it’s possible that you get your hands on the beta and try it yourself.

June 3, 2015 at 1:21 pmWell, Dina didn’t have any hand in development as far as I know.
Honestly, the whole deal with the finances, the cartoon, the voice acting, and the game they made on the side made me a hell of a lot more uneasy than whatever Dina did.
Personally, I’m not expecting anything mindblowing, and I think maybe some of the “meh” reactions were from people that maybe got a little too over-hyped.
Mighty No. 56008
June 3, 2015 at 1:22 pmI dunno, both the graphics and gameplay look exactly as they did in the earlier vids (thought the HUD looks slightly better). I’m worried that the game is pretty much of the same quality we saw with the beta.

June 3, 2015 at 3:16 pmPreorder bonuses and day 1 DLC – the spirit of an indie Kickstarter game right here. I feel a bit dirty for backing this monstrosity. Simply compare it with Shovel Knight and its free DLC and awesome console specific bonuses like Kratos and Battletoads.
After all that crap I’ve completely lost any excitement I had for the game. I doubt I’ll even play it.

June 3, 2015 at 3:35 pmDay one, pre-order DLC for a god damn Kickstarter game? piss off. What is this shit?
Also, the figurine looks terrible. It looks like he was hit repeatedly in the face with a frying pan. No buy.

June 3, 2015 at 3:44 pmWhat a mess of a game, I wonder if this will also happen to to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

June 3, 2015 at 5:05 pmSo now if I want the beck statue or a physical copy of the game I need to buy it again. Even though I kicked in 100$. I’m really going to love my tiny USB stick that I paid nearly double for. Are they actively trying to anger their kickstarters now?

June 3, 2015 at 6:04 pmYeah, it is a minecraft skin, not a retro skin.
Minecraft isn’t retro.
An NES 8 bit megaman inspired skin would be retro.

June 3, 2015 at 10:27 pmAs someone who backed this game with Benjamin I’m reminded of the feeling’s of shame of waking up after a night with a triple plus sexbus. I can at least say that was fun for a bit. Only time will tell if I can say the same with this game. Goin by the beta though I doubt it.

June 4, 2015 at 12:25 amI had no idea “retro” meant “Final Fantasy VII and Minecraft had an even uglier baby”. Now I’m worried that the “retro” soundtrack stretch goal is going to be made up of soothing piano pieces. Still though, maybe they can get some “retro” spirit out of that model if it doesn’t animate smoothly. If it’s just a model swap, I’m gonna call that an entire thing wasted effort.
I find it funny that the in-game visuals look nothing like the art, and that figurine looks nothing like either of them and is somehow uglier than both.
Good night, I WANT to like this game now that Dina is gone, but it just doesn’t stop sucking. Let’s hope the new Mega Man game and accompanying cartoon series is better than Inafune’s efforts with Mighty No. 9. That’s not a high bar to reach for.

June 4, 2015 at 1:16 amJust as repulsive as she is in-game. They did a good job if they were going for that.

June 4, 2015 at 1:55 amWait, Ray is a girl? When did that happen?
OverlordZetta
June 4, 2015 at 1:58 amThere was NEVER any extra crowd funding like that. People just didn’t pay attention.
They extended backing after the KS ended, as many do. Whenever one stretch goal was met, they announced the new one, just like during the KS. It was only ever one thing, but for some reason no one seemed to remember or be willing to point it out.
As for the cartoon, they were approached about it.
OverlordZetta
June 4, 2015 at 2:03 amIf you backed it, you’re getting the DLC. From the moment it was suggested MONTHS AGO. All backers get it free, non-backers were paying for it.
Why are you, and why is anyone for that matter, complaining now or acting like this is new information?
Furthermore, this is a limited edition. Those tend to have limited edition special items. That’s fairly straightforward and hardly a novel thing worth complaining about.
If you feel dirty, it’s likely just in your head, because the campaign has done very little wrong here, except perhaps create a community of people with very poor attention spans.
OverlordZetta
June 4, 2015 at 2:07 amThe Ray DLC is coming on disc, which is $10 more than digital versions, which won’t have it, though all backers will get it regardless.
Furthermore, they said from the beginning the Ray DLC wasn’t done. The delay is likely in part to have it done in time, as initially, the Ray DLC would have come out during the summer after initial release or so – now it’s all coming together. All of this is not new information, and to act like it is shows poorly of you, not Comcept.
Do you live in a magical world where games just develop themselves overnight? These things take time.
Mr0303
June 4, 2015 at 3:21 amThe fact that I’m getting it for free doesn’t make it a great business practice. EA, Ubisoft and Capcom get flack for these practices and so should Comcept.
I guess complaining now about Arkham Knight’s season pass and preorder bonuses doesn’t make sense, because it is not new information?
Yes, my personal feelings are in my head. I would be quite surprized if they were anywhere else. The campaign itself is nothing more than the usual Kickstarter high profile game that went to a publisher after meeting its goal.

June 4, 2015 at 3:49 amIf it’s on the disc, I’ll admit I’m wrong and withdraw that complaint. If it comes on a piece of paper as a code, sorry this changes nothing. The game will still be incomplete to anyone who buys it used and will be incomplete once servers for XBL and PSN shut down.
I can buy a used copy of Megaman X1 to X8 and get the whole game, 10, 30 or 50 years from now. If Ray comes via code, say bye bye to that thought. Well actually it doesn’t matter, the pre order bonus already sealed its fate as an incomplete game forever.
But really, as long as this piece of shit practice called pre-order bonus exists, Ray on disc or not, this game will still be gutted and incomplete, this is FACT.
Selling this game shouldn’t be so hard, just say MN9 is coming on this day, Ray and Retro Beck should be on EVERY copy, physical AND digital, backer AND non-backer. This is like selling Megaman X8 in 2015 and saying that digital copies of Megaman X8 will have to buy Axl separately. Greedy fucks.
I noticed your reply doesn’t address the problem of pre-order bonuses, gee I wonder why? maybe it’s because there’s no benefits and only serves to fucking punish the consumer?

June 4, 2015 at 8:02 amYeah, maybe we will just end up with “Xe” and “Xhem” in this one too.

Mighty No. 56008
June 4, 2015 at 11:08 amLOL, and you’re the one going around complaining and belittling those who happened to miss months old information. Just saying ;)
But yeah, it was mentioned in the forums that Ray is (or at least was meant to be) a girl…by Dina of all people, so you can take that with a huge grain of salt.
OverlordZetta
June 4, 2015 at 11:19 amI admit that one might have slipped me by – I wanted to meet the characters once the game came out, but I’ve been following the actual development of it pretty closely. I wouldn’t say I’m “belittling” anyone though – people have had it out for this game based on misinformation for ages now.
And huh.
OverlordZetta
June 4, 2015 at 11:24 amExcept there is very different context between the two situations?
The DLC wasn’t originally day one. This was something they were very open about. If those games were originally not having it as day one or were in the same situation as this one, that would be one thing – and day one DLC isn’t even inherently bad in the first place.
What I mean is your reasons for feeling that way aren’t likely based on fact.
Mighty No. 56008
June 4, 2015 at 11:39 amBut the fact of the matter is that the circumstances have changed and it is now a “Day 1 DLC”. They could’ve easily just included it into the game, but they obviously chose to keep it as an “extra” for more revenue.
Again as Mr0303 mentioned, this isn’t a criticism on Comcept specially, but the practice itself.
Mighty No. 56008
June 4, 2015 at 11:44 amAnd telling people that they are being “trolls”, “ignorant”, or “whiners” is the way to inform the masses? Yeah that’s not belittling at all. Sorry, that wasn’t specifically aimed at you, there are many like you who are trying to “spread the facts” but come off as being more insulting than anything.
And I don’t blame you for missing that little timbit of information regarding Ray. I just happened to see it at random one day….and I can’t seem to find a screencap of the conversation. Maybe if you search through the forums you’ll find it.
Mr0303
June 4, 2015 at 11:59 amEven if their intentions were that they wouldn’t release it as a day 1 DLC, the end result is that they are doing it. Given that this was mostly a digital game there is no excuse for not being able to include the content before the game has gone gold.
If you don’t see a problem with day 1 DLC – fair enough. I however do. Same with preorder bonuses. I’d say that those two facts (as stated from the article above) are the reason for me feeling uneasy for supporting business practices I don’t like.

June 5, 2015 at 12:17 amIn we all have a problem with it but it doesn’t change that fact that they are gonna continue this for years with the many other company’s that do it because no matter how much shit we all talk we always eventually buy the game
