Monolith Productions, the studio behind the F.E.A.R. series, is teaming up with Warner Bros. Interactive for a completely new take on the Lord of the Rings IP. What are they working on, you ask?

Why, a game set between the storylines of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, of course! The game is titled Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and is currently in development for both current gen and next-gen consoles.

The game is a cover story for Game Informer, and will be getting coverage all of this month. The game is described as a sandbox involving a half ranger, half wraith named Talion, who is set on a journey into Mordor, long before it became what it was known for in The War of the Ring.
