So this one is a pretty gigantic shift in the gaming industry if proven true later sometime next week. Sources of the Wall Street Journal are claiming that Microsoft Corp. is going to buy a notable indie developer.

We’re not talking about FEZ and Polytron Corporation, both of which may still be on the market for purchasing. This is Mojang of Minecraft fame we’re talking about here. The deal is reportedly worth $2 billion dollars, and could be signed “as early as next week.” The source is apparently “a person with knowledge on the matter”, although the report fails to mention anything more than that.

Naturally, when reached for comment, Mojang and Microsoft both refused to comment on what is currently rumor and speculation. For now, let’s file this under rumors, because we obviously have zero accountability for this sort of thing.
