Microsoft Quietly Confirms Next Gears of War and Halo Games

Following the news that Microsoft is launching their own developed games day and date on their Xbox Game Pass subscription platform with their retail launch, the company quietly confirmed a new Gears of War title in the same announcement.

The news pointed to Microsoft Studios-produced titles being added to the program, including “new iterations” of their “biggest  Xbox One exclusive franchises such as Halo, Forza and Gears of War,” on the same day they launch for Xbox One and or Windows PC.

The most recent title in the franchise, Gears of War 4, launched for Xbox One and Windows PC back in 2016 and was developed by The Coalition. The most recent mainline Halo game was Halo 5: Guardians, developed by 343 Industries and released for Xbox One back in 2015.

Would you like to see a new Gears of War and or Halo game? Sound off in the comments below!

Halo 6 was confirmed a long time ago, Gears of War 5 was obvious due to 4’s ending.

I only want a Halo 6 if everyone involved in Halo 5 gets fired. Terrible story, not-even-Halo-anymore multiplayer system, no split screen. Everyone involved in that atrocity should have been fired long ago.

Well those are the only gamer oriented exclusives that they still have, so they have to make sequels.

It’s almost like Nintendo and PlayStation have more than just two major cancer ridden franchises. Xboners descent into whataboutery madness is the best entertainment experience this generation.

Gears of War 1 is a great game, and i used to play the living shit out of Halo on PC back in the day. It’s just that these franchises are way past their prime, especially Halo.

Square Enix is working on Final Fantasy XVI.
Sega is working on the next Sonic.
Capcom is working on Resident Evil 8.
Ubisoft is working on another Assassin’s Creed.
Nintendo is working on at least three new Marios.

It’s almost as if it’s hypocritical to go on about Xbox reusing the same IPs, as Nintendo and Sony do it as well. Watching people go from actually liking video games to circle jerking brands is pretty hilarious. Xbox has more than “two cancer ridden franchises”, it’s just dumbasses like you refuse to give credit when credit is due.

Breath of the Wild isn’t even a great game, it’s just literally doing what RPGs of the past few years have already done. Only reason Nintendo fanboys eat it up, is cause they only live in their small bubble of Nintendo games.

Are you serious? Look how much different something like Super Mario Sunshine is from Super Mario 3D World or Majora’s Mask is from Breath of the Wild. Regardless of whether you enjoy those games or not the Halo and Gears series iterate like Madden games.

One of the key reasons why I lost interest in the Xbox brand, barely any exclusives I find appealing anymore. I admit I was a huge Xbox player during early and mid 7th Gen, but towards the end…between some of my favorite series no longer being continued on it or almost any game originally released on 360 being re-released on Sony or Nintendo systems with extra content I found it hard to justify supporting the system in later years.

You gotta take into account just how monotonous and obsolete Zelda games where before BOTW. People like BOTW because not only is it a more challenging experience in terms of gameplay, but it gives you the freedom to approach solutions in multiple ways and encourages you to bend it’s systems. This is why there are countless videos of people fucking about with the game’s physics.

Uh, Seasons & Ages, Windwaker, Link To The Past, Minish Cap, and Ocarina were and still are good. People like BOTW because they live in a bubble, and only play the same kind of games over and over again, shit all over other games that have the mechanics that did them long before Zelda did. Since they live in that bubble, it’s all new to them and gets circle jerked for awhile.

  39. JohnCReally

Are you serious for trying to make conditions for it being okay that they are literally continuing the IP, the same thing that OP was shitting on Xbox for doing. If you have any respect for fairness, you wouldn’t have any problem with what I said. But apparently, here at Niche Gamer you all care more about brands and fanboyism than actual facts.

The games within those series aren’t a long connected story in a genre that’s been filled with the same game but different art design. Same gritty WWII and fighting off invading alien species.

I didn’t say anything about the “open world” aspect. Just that the gameplay is more risk/reward and the mechanics in BOTW are more open to experimentation.

You don’t get a more monotonous experience than playing Skyward Sword.

Not in the way Halo is; Zeldas main timeline is connected but not in a way you need to play older games or lose out on the story since it’s a bunch of new places and descendants.
