Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox One is going to have a slight delay in mainland China.

The September 23rd release date is being forgone in lieu of a generic end of 2014 release window, but they are promising that Xbox is still coming.

“Despite strong and steady progress, we are going to need more a bit more time to deliver the best experiences possible for our fans in China.”

The statement continued to point towards their efforts to bring the console to mainland China, which might end up being the first foreign game console legally sold in the country following the removal of its 14 year ban:

“At Xbox, we pride ourselves on delivering first rate gaming and entertainment experiences and to allow us to deliver on that promise we need to reschedule the launch of Xbox One. Working with our partner, BesTV, we look forward to launching in China by the end of this year.”

Microsoft naturally would not respond to comment on why the delay was necessary.
