Metroid Prime 4 Development Restarted, Now Being Developed by Retro Studios

We’ve learned Nintendo has rebooted development on Metroid Prime 4, amid development woes on the sequel.

The company has restarted development on the game from the beginning, and are now collaborating with original Metroid Prime series developer Retro Studios. Featured above, you can view a new video message from Nintendo boss Shinya Takahashi.

In the video update, Takahashi noted that the “current development status of the game is very challenged,” and they had to make a difficult decision in rebooting development entirely. Coming from this, they’re assigning producer Kensuke Tanabe to work in collaboration with Retro Studios.

Previously, when Nintendo announced the game they only confirmed it was in development within a new Japanese studio. A rumor pointed to Bandai Namco’s Singapore studio working on the game, but nothing was confirmed.

Once released, Metroid Prime 4 will be available for the Nintendo Switch.
