While details are currently scarce, it’s been confirmed that the game will not be made by Retro Studios, and instead is being developed by a newly formed team in Japan.
In a press release from Nintendo, Metroid series producer Kensuke Tanabe is quoted as saying:
Metroid Prime 4 (Working Title) returns to the first-person adventure roots of the original Metroid Prime game and introduces a new storyline that ties together the events of the Metroid Prime universe and takes the storyline in new directions.
Metroid Prime 4 is currently in early development exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
