Coldwild Games have announced the release date for their trade management game Merchant of the Skies, which will soon leave Early Access.
The game first entered Early Access in July 2019. Players start as humble merchants trying to build a massive trade empire in a world full of floating islands and sky ships. Players will explore the clouds, build home bases, and ship goods across the skies.
The launch version will include a revamped campaign with new areas to explore and adding “one ultimate objective”, as well as new characters, tasks, a new building and other requested features and improvements.
You can find the latest trailer below.
You can find a rundown of the game (via Steam) below:
In Merchant of the Skies you’re the captain of an airship! Sell items, gather resources and build your own trade empire in the clouds! Merchant of the Skies is the trading game with light base-building and tycoon elements. You start off as a captain of a small cloudship and work your way towards establishing your own trade company.
Merchant of the skies is an experimental game: it does not have a distinct genre, but tries to capture the feeling of traveling the world and establishing your own company. That means we try to incorporate exploration, base building, trading and some minor rpg elements into the game.
Features
- Become a trader! Find the best trade routes and profit from them
- Discover the world! Travel between flying isles and face different encounters
- Sandbox gameplay: do what you want at your own pace
- Gain experience and become more savvy when it comes to trading, then start your own goods production
- Establish trade routes to transport and sell goods without your direct involvement
- Get rich and build your own mansion from more than 200 different building blocks
Merchant of the Skies is current in Early Access. That means that we want to rely heavily on your feedback, so suggest whatever improvements you want to see and we’ll try to accommodate them as best as we can! You can find the development roadmap on Forums. If you want to get full experience – please wait for the final release.
Based on your feedback we are going to decide which features do we want to emphasize the most: exploration, base-building, trading or goal-driven gameplay. We plan to work on all of them, but the priorities are mostly going to depend what you, player, wants. The final experience will depend on you.
The final version is going to have a clear, distinguishable goal of uniting the floating islands and restoring the world to its former glory. But for now, the game features separate goal-based missions and objectives (as well as infinite sandbox mode of course!).
Merchant of the Skies is in early access, and will launch April 17th for Windows PC, Linux, and Mac (all via Steam).
