MechWarrior Online Launches Next Phase of Community Warfare, New Mechlab, and More

MechWarrior Online developer Piranha Games parted from their publisher Infinite Games Publishing last year, and went independent. Since then, development on their highly anticipated Phase II launch for Community Warfare, their persistent faction-based online feature, continued.

Today, the studio has announced that not only is the second phase of Community Warfare now available, a revamped Mech Lab has been made available to players. Featured above, you can view the overview trailer showcasing all of the new goodies fans have in store for them in the latest update to MechWarrior Online.

Alongside the completion of MechWarrior Online’s  phase II comes four completely new maps, a “looking for group” option for groups and individuals, VoIP chat across all game modes, a “call to arms” feature that makes it way easier for players to gather together to fight over a planet, tons of fixes to the majority of gameplay, and even a new counter-attack mode.

As previously mentioned, the Mech Lab has been revamped. Now, players can view their mech’s entire loadout, including its equipment, weapons, and ammo, all at once. The Warehouse filtering has been tweaks a bit to now only display equipment that works for your currently selected mech. Intelligently color-coded labels have now made going through the massive amount of potential combinations of ammunition and weapons, providing visual indicators of what works with what. You can even drag+drop your new equipment in, providing what is easily the most accessible Mech Lab yet.

We’ll be publishing an interview with MechWarrior Online boss Russ Bullock shortly. For now, head on over to the official MechWarrior Online website to read more about the game, or hop in – it’s free to play.
