Marvel’s Avengers Launches May 15, 2020

Square Enix have announced the release date for Marvel’s Avengers.

The new game based on the popular media franchise is launching on May 15th, 2020 for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia.

Featured above, you can find a new E3 2019 trailer for the game.

You can find a run-down on the game’s plot below:

“Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.”

We also know from other scenes shown at Square Enix’ E3 2019 Press Conference that the experimental power-source was a Terragen Reactor. We also have a sneaking suspicion that due to the skull wearing enemies, the white-cloaked figure we see may be the villain Taskmaster. Finally, another scene we saw showed us Hank Pym (Ant-Man) using a shrinking ray on a giant robot.

The game was developed in collaboration between Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montréal, Nixxes Software and Crystal Northwest. There will also be a 4 player online multiplayer mode, where all heroes and regions added later being free. Representatives also quipped that they would not have any lootboxes or pay-to-win DLC.

Finally, the PlayStation 4 version will have early beta access and other unspecified “unique benefits.”
